No eviction drive in Burrabazar & College Street, clarifies KMC Commissioner
The Supreme Court on Monday issued an interim stay on the Calcutta High Court’s order granting age relaxation in the School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment process. The stay was passed by a division bench comprising Justices Sanjay Kumar and Vinod Chandran, effectively halting the relief earlier extended to certain candidates linked to the 2016 recruitment exercise.
Earlier, Justice Amrita Sinha of the Calcutta High Court had directed that candidates who were eligible in 2016 but did not get an opportunity or appointment should be granted age relaxation in the upcoming recruitment. However, the apex court observed that it was not inclined to allow such candidates another chance in a fresh selection process, leading to the interim stay on the High Court’s directive.
